Los Angeles DC Wonder Woman Run Series Starts With Great Success

One year after DC Comic’s most iconic female superhero got a movie remake, she has earned her very own race series: DC Wonder Woman Run Series. Produced by SON Events, LLC in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC Entertainment, the race series is visiting five California cities and offering 5K and 10K distance options for participants. The race has already visited San Jose, Oakland, Sacramento and Los Angeles, and will take place in San Diego on Nov. 18.

Pacific Union’s own Tom Flanagan, based out of Pasadena from our Old Town office, got involved as a title sponsor of the race’s LA and San Diego races and proudly representing Pacific Union and Compass with his own effort.

“As the father of a daughter and an advocate of gender equality I was moved by origination of the DC Wonder Woman Run Series and grateful to have the opportunity to be a title sponsor and represent Compass at this sold out, fun event,” Tom said. “Both at home and at work, I am surrounded by dynamic women and fully supportive of any and all efforts that further empower women and bring attention to the inequalities that exist today.”

CAR data shows that 60 percent of real estate professionals in California are women but only about one-third of leadership positions in brokerage firms with more than 100 professionals are led by women — a statistic that has been virtually unchanged in recent years. In our organization, from Operations to Marketing and Management to realtors, women rule the roost.

In June, Chief Operating Officer Brent Thomson and Vice President and Branch Manager Pat Heller were among the featured speakers at the second California Association of Realtors’ WomanUP! Conference. Thomson oversees all aspects of Pacific Union operations, including the recruitment and performance of top real estate professionals. She also leads the executives of the firm’s Northern California region.

“Women make up the majority of the real estate industry, yet they’re underrepresented in brokerage leadership,” she said. “This conference seeks not only to heighten awareness of these opportunities, but to inspire women to move toward them.”

Malibu agent Sarah Kosasky was one of 25 real estate executives statewide to be spotlighted in How Women Brokers are Reinventing Leadership in the 21st Century, a recently published study commissioned as part of the C.A.R. Women’s Initiative of the California Association of Realtors. The new women’s outreach program seeks to increase awareness about women’s leadership in the brokerage industry, and aspires to create a community in which mentors and leaders can communicate, collaborate, promote, advocate for and support each other.

For whatever reason you decide to run, the DC Wonder Woman run invites you to share your story. With Wonder Woman gear and a post-race party, the run promises high energy and entertainment. Embrace your inner Wonder Woman at the upcoming race in San Diego on Nov. 18.
